Reality Is More Horrifying Than Fiction
![Jese Leos](https://bookishfables.com/author/brennan-blair.jpg)
In a world full of imagination and creativity, where fiction brings us to enchanted lands and thrilling adventures, it might be easy to overlook the chilling facts of our own reality. We often seek solace in the realm of fiction, finding comfort in the knowledge that what we're experiencing is purely fantasy. However, when we delve deeper into reality, we realize that sometimes truth can be more horrifying than anything we could imagine.
The Darkness Within Society
From the terrors of war and genocide to the sinister depths of human cruelty, reality showcases a dark side that can send shivers down our spines. Fictional horrors, while gripping and terrifying, are ultimately controlled by the imagination of their creators. In reality, there are no boundaries or restrictions on the horrors that humans can inflict upon one another.

History is littered with examples of immense suffering and horror. The Holocaust, arguably the most chilling testament to human cruelty, saw millions of innocent lives mercilessly taken away. The genocide in Rwanda, the killing fields of Cambodia, and the mass shootings that plague our own present time are reminders that unimaginable horrors happen in the real world, often perpetrated by our fellow human beings. These events leave scars on our collective consciousness and make us question the nature of humanity.
Unexplained Mysteries and the Supernatural
While fiction explores the realms of the supernatural and the unexplained, reality presents us with true accounts of inexplicable phenomena. From the haunting tales of haunted houses and ghostly apparitions to the eerie sightings and encounters with unidentified flying objects, reality offers a plethora of spine-tingling moments that go beyond the boundaries of our imaginations.
Consider the stories of haunted places where people claim to have witnessed paranormal activities. From disconcerting sounds and unexplained movements to apparitions and cold chills, these encounters with the supernatural have left many people questioning the nature of reality itself. While fiction may give us an adrenaline rush, the fear that arises from experiencing inexplicable events in real life can leave a lasting impression on our psyche.
The Fragility of Existence
Another chilling aspect of reality is the fragility of our own existence. While works of fiction often explore the darkest corners of our fears, reality has its ways of reminding us of our mortality in even more horrifying ways.
Natural disasters, such as earthquakes, hurricanes, and tsunamis, can unleash devastating chaos and cause immense loss of life. The sense of helplessness and the feeling of being at the mercy of uncontrollable forces can be a terrifying experience. The realization that we are merely vulnerable beings in the face of the unpredictable forces of nature is a harsh truth to come to terms with.
Furthermore, diseases and pandemics have shown us just how fragile our existence truly is. The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, with its profound impact on global health and the unprecedented loss of life, serves as a grim reminder that reality can be far more terrifying than any fictional dystopia or zombie apocalypse.
While fiction offers an escape from reality, the fact remains that the horrors of the real world can surpass anything we read or watch. Whether it is the darkness within society, unexplained mysteries, or the fragility of our own existence, reality has a way of reminding us of the truly horrifying aspects of life.
So, as we lose ourselves in the imaginary worlds created by talented writers, filmmakers, and artists, let's not forget to acknowledge the chilling realities that surround us. Only by recognizing and confronting these horrors can we hope to make our own reality a safer and less terrifying place to exist.

This real-life tragedy began on a stormy night with a knock at the front door. A friend needed help with his car. What happened to Carl, Lisa, Gregory, and Felicia that night is worse than any fictional horror story you’ve ever read or seen on the big screen. Little girls should never have to live in a barrel …
Award-winning journalist and best-selling author George Jared takes readers on a gripping and chilling journey with his latest true-crime book, The Creek Side Bones … Reality is more horrifying than fiction.
The book details how the Elliott family in Dalton, Ark., lived in constant fear in the summer 1998. How they met their fates is ghastly. Jared covered two murder trials in connection with the case, and provides his own theories as to how and why the Elliott family was murdered.
Four other murder cases are also detailed in the book. Sidney Nicole Randall was a beauty pageant queen, about to enter high school when a monster stole her away in the dark. Brittney Sellers was a mother of three who vanished without a trace while on a walk down Peace Valley Road. Her fate is incomprehensible. Bob Castleman was a respected attorney and Vietnam War vet until the drugs, murder, a live copperhead snake; Native American artifact fraud consumed his life.
The book also includes an update on the unsolved Rebekah Gould case. The 22-year-old college student was murdered Sept. 20, 2004, in Melbourne, Arkansas. There are suspects in the case, but to this day, no one has been jailed for her brutal death.
Jared has won numerous first place awards for investigative journalism, feature writing, news stories, and others with the coveted Associated Press Managing Editors and the Arkansas Press Association.
His first book Witches in West Memphis … and another false confession detailed his coverage of the internationally famous “West Memphis Three” case. Three Marion, Ark., teens – Damien Echols, Jason Baldwin, and Jessie Misskelley Jr. – were convicted in the 1993 murders Christopher Byers, Stevie Branch, and Michael Moore. The boys’ bodies were found nude and bound in a drainage ditch near their homes one day after they disappeared May 5, 1993. Prosecutors claimed the boys were sacrificed in a Satanic ceremony orchestrated by the convicted.
There was only one problem. These three didn’t do it. It took nearly 20 years to free them. Jared wrote more stories about the case than any journalist in the world. He was cited in Life After Death, a New
York Times best-selling book about the case. He also received credit for in the Academy Award nominated documentary Paradise Lost Three … Purgatory also about the case. Through the years, the longtime newsman has written thousands of stories on a wide range of topics. Get a copy of The Creek Side Bones today.
