Prepare to embark on a fascinating journey through time as we explore the world of genealogical identification.

Unveiling the Power of Genealogical Identification

Genealogical identification is the process of studying and tracing family histories and lineages. It involves researching records such as birth and death certificates, marriage records, census data, immigration records, and more. Historically, this process required extensive manual labor and countless hours spent sifting through physical documents. However, with the advent of digital technologies, this has become significantly easier and more accessible to the general public.

What makes genealogical identification truly remarkable is its ability to connect individuals to their ancestors and distant relatives. By examining familial links and utilizing DNA testing, genealogists can establish connections that were once thought impossible. This provides individuals with a sense of belonging and a deeper understanding of their place in history.

The Rise of Online Genealogy Platforms

In recent years, numerous online platforms have emerged that cater to individuals interested in exploring their family history. Websites such as Ancestry.com, MyHeritage, and FamilySearch have all become popular hubs for genealogical research. These platforms offer extensive databases of historical records, family trees, and DNA testing services, enabling users to explore their lineage with ease.

One of the main advantages of online genealogy platforms is their ability to integrate various sources of information. Through a single interface, users can access birth, marriage, and death records, census data, military records, immigration records, and much more. Additionally, these platforms often have vibrant user communities where individuals can collaborate and share their findings, further enhancing the overall genealogical experience.

Identifying Virtually Everyone - Breaking Down Barriers

With the vast amount of information available on online genealogy platforms, it is now possible to identify virtually everyone with a degree of accuracy. Through careful research and cross-referencing, genealogists can link individuals from different time periods, locations, and social backgrounds. This opens up endless possibilities for discovering shared ancestors, famous relatives, and connections to historical events.

Genealogical identification has also been instrumental in solving mysteries and addressing long-standing questions. For example, numerous adoptees have been able to locate their biological families and uncover their true identities through genealogical research. Similarly, individuals with limited historical records or incomplete family trees can now fill in the missing pieces through the power of connectivity offered by genealogical identification.

The Future of Genealogical Identification

As technology continues to advance, the world of genealogical identification is poised for even greater breakthroughs. With the integration of artificial intelligence and machine learning algorithms, research processes that once took years can now be completed in a matter of days.

One exciting area of development is the use of DNA testing. As more individuals submit their DNA for analysis, the databases become richer, paving the way for more accurate matching and identification. This ongoing expansion of genetic data holds immense potential for uncovering hidden connections and discovering previously unknown relatives.

Furthermore, advancements in geographic information systems (GIS) are transforming the way we analyze and visualize family history data. By plotting ancestral migration patterns on interactive maps, researchers can gain insights into the movements and settlement patterns of their ancestors. This provides a more comprehensive understanding of their heritage and enriches the overall genealogical narrative.

Gone are the days when discovering one's family history was a laborious and time-consuming task. With genealogical identification, virtually everyone can now be discovered and connected to their ancestors. Online genealogy platforms have democratized access to historical records, making it possible for individuals to uncover their roots from the comfort of their own homes.

So, why wait any longer? Unlock the mysteries of your lineage, explore the stories of your ancestors, and embark on an incredible journey through time. Start your genealogical identification today and uncover the rich tapestry that connects us all.

These letters tell the story of two brothers and a farm. The farm was called Lakelands and the land was purchased by Thomas Nickleson Jeffery in 1815—800 acres mainly on the west side of the Halifax-Windsor Road, 30 miles from Halifax, 15 from Windsor, being four-fifths of the grant originally made to William Piggott in 1763. In 1819 Jeffery purchased the other 200 acres on the east side of the road, which included the house that Piggott had used as the halfway house. It was thought that the manor house, which would be built on the west side began as early as 1815, but this is unlikely, as in the detailed survey of the farms between Halifax and Windsor done by John Elliott Woolford in 1817, there is no sign of any building on the west side of the Windsor Road. Woolford worked for Lord Dalhousie, Governor of Nova Scotia. When, in 1819, the latter took a survey of the Shubenacadie River system and part of Hants County along with Jeffery and others, they passed by Lakelands and there was no reference that this was a gentleman’s seat as he simply referred to a “house”—which suggests Piggott’s old building, not any new manor that would later catch the attention of Captain Fotheringay in 1827, of Joseph Howe in 1828, and of John James Audubon in 1833. It is possible that the manor house was not started till the early 1820s. The estate passed through several hands until Charles Herbert McClare purchased it in 1908. McClare was an architect and he took notice of the structure of the manor house and drew up plans. He communicated his findings to Harry Piers of the Nova Scotia Museum. Charles Herbert had purchased the estate with a major project in mind. In 1908 he founded the Lakelands Development Company, of which he was chairman and managing director. The goal of the company was to develop a complete farming community. “It is proposed” the company prospectus stated, “to lay out 10 or 15 new farms of 40 to 80 acres each, furnished with neat, modern farm houses, barns and out-buildings, and fitted for carrying on dairying and other forms of agriculture in harmony with the interests of the Company. These farms will be established on a paying basis, and will be sold to members of the Company who may wish to farm on their own account, or to any desirable farmer who may wish to locate at Lakelands.” It took some time to get the project off the ground. In the meantime he had hired his younger brother, Percy Lamont McClare, then living in the Boston area, to manage the Lakelands farm. Charles Herbert was something of a micromanager. His brother was manager, but Charles Herbert became super manager, micromanaging everything from far off Cambridge. MA. The book is heavily annotated. Much attention is given to local persons mentioned in the letters, which information will be of value to persons interested in genealogy and local history.
